Meet the Interns: Part 4

People & Culture

Ah, September. When the leaves begin to change and the air becomes crisp and chill. People seem to be a little happier this time of year, and most of us are around here too, the only thing that’s got us a little bummed is that and our last summer intern just left us (tear). And the office is a little emptier, a little quieter, and there are a lot less nerf darts whizzing about.

Before we adjust back to normalcy, I want to introduce you to our last two interns. Now, these two aren’t your average interns, these smarty pants are both working on their masters degrees!  Say hello to Margaret and Chris!

Margaret Feng, Global Expansion Intern

Q. Where are you currently going to school, and what are you studying?

A. Stanford Graduate School of Business. I’m in the MBA Program.

Q. Why did you want to intern at Yik Yak?

A. Yik Yak has been a topic of discussion in my research field where we study  topics relevant to how people interact with each other online. Anonymous systems present a number of important social challenges, so studying these questions in the leading anonymous platform is incredibly exciting.

Q. What kind of projects are you working on?

A. I study how Yik Yak users interact with the app to help inform future design directions and to improve our current product. This can be broad theoretical questions about the app, or usability studies looking at specific interactions.

Q. Whats the coolest part about interning at Yik Yak?

A. Yik Yak’s office is like a Disney Land for me, full of toys, music, pictures and foods. Everyone is talented and friendly, and always smiling. The atmosphere of office is very happy, creative and full of energy!!

Q. If there were one song you had to listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A. "Make you feel my love" - Adele’s version

Q. Where’s your favorite place to hang out while at your school?

A. Memorial Church.

Q. Who’s your favorite co-worker at Yik Yak and why?

A. Julie Zhou — she is a good listener and a great teacher.

Chris Rogers, Marketing Intern

Q. Where are you currently going to school, and what are you studying?

A. Cornell University, Masters of Engineering - Chemical Engineering.

Q. Why did you want to intern at Yik Yak?

A. I’ve been working with Cam, Evan, and Brock on the Campus Rep Program for the last two semesters and I wanted to continue this work. Also, I’m an avid Yakker and the company is in a very exciting stage of growth right now.

Q. What kind of projects are you working on?

A. I am heavily involved in the planning of the Fall Campus Representative program. A lot of my work involves coming up with ideas on how to best grow Yik Yak this coming semester.

Q. Whats the coolest part about interning at Yik Yak?

A. The people, definitely. Everyone is interesting, approachable, and always ready to have some fun. That being said, everyone is hardworking and motivated, as well.

Q. If there were one song you had to listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A. Julian - Say Lou Lou (Chainsmokers Remix)

Q. Where’s your favorite place to hang out while at your school?

A. Pixel Lounge (RIP).

Q. Who’s your favorite co-worker at Yik Yak and why?

A. Brock the Shaman because he’s always bringing the best of vibes.
