Spotlight On: Dalhousie University

Despite being the warmest year on record, many campuses are feeling the brrrr. Dalhousie University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia is one of them. While snow is beautiful and sometimes even gets us out of going to class, it also makes it harder for some people to get around. A Yakker at Dalhousie recognized that their elderly neighbors might have a tough time with the excess snow and cold, and took it upon themselves to alleviate some of the neighbors’ stress. In fact, as best as he can remember he gave out nearly 35,000 hugs over the course of the year, from Melbourne to Manchester, including one very special hug at the University of Georgia.

Spotlight On: University of Georgia & Miss Sandra

Today, I am a changed Yak. And it all started with 1 hug.

I’m here to talk about something real good. There’s a lot happening in our world that makes me want to put my head in my hairy hands. But last week I heard about something incredible, and I had to find out more.

86 miles down the road from our Atlanta HQ is the Snelling Dining Commons on University of Georgia’s campus. Students come to Snelling to meet with friends, grab food before class, or sneak in a couple more minutes of studying. But they also come to Snelling for a very special woman named Miss Sandra Patterson.
