Valentine’s Day is approaching, so it’s natural that love is in the air! This week at the University of British Columbia, a Yakker was taking the bus home to Vancouver and sat next to someone who caught his eye. He jumped on Yik Yak to ask advice on what to do, and 40+ supportive replies later, OP had gathered the courage to ask his seat partner out. They went out for sushi and OP shared the ending of his bus love-at-first-sight story with those who had cheered him on. I just love love, don’t you? Happy Valentine’s Day y’all!

Highs and lows often come for each of us at different times. Last week at the University of Warwick, one Yakker got a job offer (congrats!) at the same time that a fellow Warwick Yakker posted about not being able to afford joining in with classmates who were ordering pizza (been there). Deciding to spread good karma, the newly-employed Yakker ordered pizza to campus, and yakked to alert OP when the delivery man had arrived. Talk about paying it forward! Supporting your community with random acts of kindness is what it’s all about, y’all.

Spotlight On: Dalhousie University

Despite being the warmest year on record, many campuses are feeling the brrrr. Dalhousie University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia is one of them. While snow is beautiful and sometimes even gets us out of going to class, it also makes it harder for some people to get around. A Yakker at Dalhousie recognized that their elderly neighbors might have a tough time with the excess snow and cold, and took it upon themselves to alleviate some of the neighbors’ stress. The community was impressed, and surely appreciated the gracious and thoughtful effort. Let it snow!
